ABOUT THE WORK

TWO YEAR OF RENEWAL AT
ST. MARY'S AND HOLYROOD CATHOLIC CHURCHES
.

St. Mary's Catholic Church Louth was transformed into a welcoming church community for 14 months. A small team, who also supported two other local churches, in the end welcomed around 850 people to extremely successful liturgical, social, and pastoral events. This work was part of the New Evangelisation, but in retrospect, this work also saw the central message of Pope Francis' Encyclical Evangelii Gaudium being acted upon and accomplished.

The photos and memories have been recorded on this site as a reminder of a wonderful faith filled and fun year when everyone was welcomed into St. Mary's......

and by successfully embracing the New Evangelisation.

This successful renewal was central to the Year of Faith, as well as Bishop Malcolm's Diocesan Living Stones initiative. Many of the events drew in parishioners from surrounding parishes, deaneries, and diocese. There were 12 events which were organised and all were extremely well attended and very successful.

The renewal at St. Mary's, and later on supporting two other two other churches, engaged over 1000 people, including some who had stepped foot inside a Catholic church for the first time, which was the primary aim of these evangelising events. All events were specifically chosen to reflect what is currently flourishing in the Catholic Church.

  5. I had a look at your website. Some of it looks great, people working closely together as community.

So hard to have a parish to make everyone feel at home.

  6. Heard on the internet all about the problems at Louth....

What you had to deal with sounds awful and should never have been allowed to get to that state. What was your bishop doing? Or was he even made aware of the situation? Bishops should be hands-on in overseeing their dioceses! If not, what is the use of having them?

    Great kudos to you all.

  8. It's nice to see Catholics doing something. The Catholics don't usually do anything in Louth.

  9. Sounds great. Quite an achievement. Your prayer programme (which was read about elsewhere on the internet) strikes me as particularly impressive.

  11. It must have been exhausting for you all, putting so much hard work into restoring your parish to where it should be.

  12. You are all assured of my prayers for your parish - long may it flourish and praise God beautifully. Let nobody come in and spoil it. Take no more nonsense.
